An intriguing piece of art has fans eager to know what the deal is with a strange newNightwing. A beloved artist took to social media and provided a glimpse of a hero that looks similar, yet quite different to Dick Grayson’s alter ego and it’s driving the internet absolutely bonkers.
OnInstagramandX,Batman / Superman: World’s Finestartist Dan Mora posted several images to tease his work for the series' upcoming twenty-ninth issue. The first was an image ofthe magical hero Zatanna, dressed in her stage performer outfit. But it was Mora’s other post that caught the attention of fans online.
On both social media posts, Mora included the text “Who’s that?” along withthe image of a figure dressed in a gray and blue Nightwing-like outfitwith a full cowl and finned gauntlets. But unlike Nightwing and his svelte physique, this unknown figure is incredibly muscular.
Dan Mora Teases Odd Nightwing-Like Hero in Upcoming Comic
For those who haven’t been readingBatman / Superman: World’s Finest, the current arc involves a villain from the Sixth Dimension who has decided to challenge Earth’s heroes. This powerful imp-like threat has created the Legion of Doom-Mites, and sent them to Earth to team up with the Justice League’s greatest villains. In order to stop this mad, god-level villain, Fifth-Dimensional pestsMr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mitehave teamed up with Batman, Robin, and Superman. But even working with the greatest heroes on Earth hasn’t been enough to defeat the powerful Sixth-Dimensional foe waiting for them.
There were a lot of humorous responses to Mora’s posts. Some joked that Nightwing was going to bulk up considerably while others posited Batman stealing the Nightwing costume. Unfortunately for fans, Mora remained mum, leaving fans to continue making wild guesses. While Mora won’t say anything, there’s plenty to speculate about. The figure in the art definitely looks like Batman, so the idea that he’s going to borrow Dick’s suit may be on the money. But sinceWorld’s Finestis set in the past,Batman may be getting the costume from a different Nightwing.
Batman’s Getting A Future Nightwing’s Costume
The most recentWorld’s Finestissue saw Superman and Batman discovering the Sixth Dimension, a realm where all of time exists at once. If Batman is indeed going to borrow a costume from Nightwing, it won’t be from his Robin-era sidekick, but from a modern-day Nightwing. Batman fighting in the Sixth Dimension where the past, present, and future are all one thing would make it extremely easy for him to borrow an outfit from a future Nightwing. Of course, that’s all just speculation, but it might not be too far off from how Mora’s newNightwingcomes into existence.
