“As Long As I Keep Reinventing It”: Daryl’s Walking Dead Future Gets Intriguing Response From Norman Reedus
Summary
Norman Reedus seemingly confirms thatThe Walking Dead: Daryl Dixonseason 4 is happening (though he possibly wasn’t supposed to). Daryl’s solo adventure within theTWDuniverse began in 2023 with season 1, which sent the motorcycle-riding, zombie-killing loner all the way to the shores of France, where he stumbled upon a new group of friends, and a new mission. Season 2 will bring back old friends, as promised by its official titleThe Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, with season 3 to follow.
But AMC’s commitment to the further adventures of Daryl (and perhaps Carol) may go even further, as Reedus seemingly just confirmed that season 4 will happen too. AMC might not be too happy with Reedus letting the news slip, as in a recent interview, he haltingly mentioned future filming plans for the show. Check out his remarks below (viaRadio Times):

We’re about to start seasons 3 and possibly 4 in Spain. I think I’m allowed to say that. I don’t know. I just said it. But I think we’re going to Spain, to Madrid, for that.
Expanding theTWDuniverseby sending Daryl to Europe proved a good move for the franchise, as the location change breathed new life into what had become a somewhat stale property. Given how successfulDaryl Dixonseason 1 proved to be, it’s only natural that Daryl’s adventures on the other side of the Atlantic would continue. Carol joining the fun in season 2 sets up a huge reunion between two fan-favorite characters, giving viewers even more reason to stick withTWDlong after the flagship show’s finale.
What might happen afterDaryl Dixonseason 2 remains to be seen, but thoughts of a possible Daryl and Carol return to the USA seemingly went by the wayside when Reedus confirmed that season 3 would be filming in Spain. AnyTWDfans looking forward to Daryl and Carol getting back to America, and reuniting with Rick, Michonne, Maggie and company might be disappointed to learn that Daryl’s spinoff could continue through season 4, with filming still happening across the pond.
Daryl Dixon’s main filming location switches to Spain for season 3, after 2 seasons spent in France.
It’s possible that futureTWDuniverse plans still involve a big reunion between all the main characters, and even a delayedWalking Deadseason 12proper. But that seemingly won’t happen untilThe Walking Dead: Daryl Dixonhas two more seasons in the can beyond the upcoming season 2. For now, it seems AMC is content to let Daryl and Carol lead theTWDuniverse, along with Maggie and Negan inDead City, with a full-blown reunion series on the backburner, or maybe off the table entirely.
