With six guesses and thousands of possible daily words, keeping a Wordle streak alive can be tricky. Here are some strategies players can follow.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

JUNE 30 #384

There are some very timely categories here, and one category that does not quite fit in with the rest. Ironically,it is the yellow category that is the odd man out today, and it has one word that will try to trick you as well. Fortunately for you, we have the categories listed here, as well as the answers further below.

MAXIM

SAW

There are two words here that did not immediately come across as a saying, those being CHESTNUT and SAW. To further confuse matters, CHESTNUT is a tree and SAW can be used on trees. Perhaps CHESTNUT and SAW also both have old definitions about old sayings younger folk are not familiar with, and it was fun to learn this new fact about these words.

GAS

WOOD

With grills firing up all across the country for summer afternoons, this is the first of the quite apt categories for today. ELECTRIC, GAS, and CHARCOAL all being closely related to several different types of stoves and other utilities, it was easy to connect them. WOOD was a little harder because other words could be used in similar contexts, but we got there in the end and it being specifically grill-related makes sense.

NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast

This tricky little five by five crossword isn’t always as easy as it looks; here are a couple easy tips and tricks to beat your friends' times!

EBONY

GUM

This one was the last category we solved today, even though we recognized that there had to be a tree or wood category based on all of these words. However, it wasn’t until CHESTNUT was removed from the equation that we were able to get the category all the way correct, as it certainly seemed to belong with the rest of the trees. Luckily, we managed to salvage this puzzle regardless.

JET

PUMP

A hot tub is a great way to relax on a breezy summer evening, and for us, this was easier than coming up with words for Old Saying. Perhaps that is our personal experience serving as Grandpa’s pool assistant, but at least that experience came in handy for solving a puzzle even if we never own a pool again! Thank you Grandpa for trying to teach us how to run a pump room.
