Thankfully, Season 3 Episode 7 did deliver an absolutely head-spinning answer for one character… but now an even bigger question has taken its place.

The Way Home Season 3 Episode 7 finally revealed a clue about Casey’s identity
Finally, The Way Home Season 3 Episode 7 confirmed something huge about Casey – she’s actually from the future. Just one huge question remains: is she a Goodwin, a Landry, or something else entirely?
Let’s rewind for a second. Thanks to Casey saying they’re a Goodwin and the timeline connections to the name Cassandra, Alice has been convinced Casey is from the future. In the latest episode, Del learns Casey previously came to Sam for legal advice, though the reason why was bound by attorney-client privilege.

Alice later finds a coffee cup and burner phone in the attic, leading to the reveal that Casey has been squatting there. Lewis is their second cousin, not their father, and things had been rough at home for them in the summer of 2024. The internship “made them feel like family,” with Lewis then changing his mind about the land and getting legal help from Sam.

The Way Home Season 3’s astonishing finale still messed up one crucial storyline
5 huge theories for Casey’s identity in The Way Home Season 4

When Alice later passes by the pond, she finds Casey, who claims they remembered something else they wanted to tell Kat. Here’s the kicker – Alice asks about the engagement ring around Casey’s neck. Remember, it looks exactly the same as Kat’s, which Alice currently has.
“It’s a family ring,” Casey says. “Goodwin family?” Alice adds. “No,” is the reply. Casey vanishes into the pond, confirming they’re from the future. But is the engagement ring a Landry heirloom?
This also means Casey could very well have pushed Alice in the pond back in Episode 1 (we still don’t have an answer to this), but it really only alludes to one thing: Casey isn’tstrictlya Goodwin after all.
So far, there’s three working theories: Casey is Alice’s child,Jacob’schild, or even Kat and Elliot’s future child. Whether any of these are actually true remains to be seen… fingers crossed we’ll get answers by the Season 3 finale.
