From the very beginning ofPower Rangerslore, the Command Center has served as a sanctuary for the teenagers with attitude and their mentor. Since Zordon first recruited the Rangers by summoning them to the Command Center, there technically would be no Power Rangers without it.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return#4 – written by Amy Jo Johnson & Matt Hotson, with art by Nico Leon – was largely an upbeat conclusion to the story, but the finale was not without its surprises. Notably,the Command Center took on a new villainous ownership, overrun bythe daughter of Zordon’s worst enemy, Rita Repulsa.
As the miniseries wraps up,the implications of its ending hint at more to come, in which the Command Center could possibly prove instrumental in a future revenge plot against the Power Rangers, and potentially a wider plot for world domination.

While the original Rangers and the new Green Ranger ponder on a new future, Selena moves quickly to overtake the Command Center for herself. She makes it clear that her plan to revive her mother has not yet left her mind.
Decades prior, in theseries' alternative canon, Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa would do the unthinkable by destroying the Command Center with Zordon and Alpha-5 still inside, killing them both. The villains won the battle, but the heroes won the war whena backfired Z-Wave bomb created by the Blue Rangerdestroyed the Moon Palace and Rita’s crew, whileRita herself was sucked into the Morphin Grid. During the course ofThe Return, her secret daughter tried and failed to resurrect her mother, instead bringing a presumed dead Tommy Oliver back from the Grid.
Following the final battle inThe Return#4, while the original Rangers and the new Green Ranger ponder on a new future,Selena moves quickly to overtake the Command Center for herself. She makes it clear that her plan to revive her mother has not yet left her mind. Unbeknowst to Selena, it was Tommy who saved her life from Bandora Palace’s destruction when she was a child, not her mother.

What was once a safe haven for good has been reappropriated into a sanctuary for evil to rest. WhetherThe Returncontinues or not, there are some dark implications of Selena Repulsa’s infiltration of the Command Center. Traditionally in the franchise, an evildoer invading the Command Center has never led to good news, but the possibilities are even worse now with revenge on Selena’s mind. Most notably, her takeoverstands as one last stab of revenge at Zordon on behalf of Rita.

She’s lost her mother’s infamous moon palace, her Putties, Finster, and the machine she hoped to use to bring her mother back.
