Summary

Ahsokastar Rosario Dawson recently gave some exciting hints at where season 2 of theStar Warsshow could go. Dawson plays the titular Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi and Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. Bythe end ofAhsokaseason 1, she had experienced huge amounts of hardships and challenges, both new and old, and was forced to move past them.Ahsokaseason 2 was confirmedin January alongside the announcement ofThe Mandalorian & Grogu, and now Dawson has hinted at some new challenges her character will have to face inAhsokaseason 2.

While speaking with theSAG-AFTRA Foundation, Dawson spoke about Ahsoka’s journey, from her time in the Clone Wars toAhsokaseason 1, and she mentioned her excitement about continuing that story inAhsokaseason 2.

“It just was so great to be able to see her get that lightness back, and it makes me very excited for a season 2 and being able to explore even more as she’s made more peace with her past, where she can kind of look more to the future, and again face those particular challenges. Because that’s the thing I love about Star Wars: you’re constantly conflicted, you’re constantly provoked, you know? And just because she’s kind of come to a different kind of understanding for herself doesn’t mean she won’t be tested again. And it’d be so cool to see her doing it from this space now where she’s got a Padawan, she’s made a lot of peace with her mentor, and she has a more, kind of, confidence I think, in herself and what she’s chosen thus far in the journey.”

It’s clear from Dawson’s comments that she truly understands the history Ahsoka has had and the head space her journey has put her in. It’s also evident that she’s just as excited aboutAhsokaseason 2 and seeing the latest chapter in Ahsoka’s life as viewers are.Ahsokais an action-packed show, but it’s also deeply personal and spiritual, and Dawson’s comments seem to suggestAhsokaseason 2 will have a similar level of introspection as season 1 did. Those comments paint an exciting picture of what’s to come in the future ofAhsoka, and how it relates to the past.

When Ahsoka Takes Place In The Star Wars Timeline

Ahsoka is the latest Star Wars Disney+ TV show, featuring the return of iconic Rebels characters - but where does it fit into the timeline?

Ahsoka Isn’t Looking To The Past Anymore… But What Does Her Future Hold?

Much ofAhsokaseason 1 dealt with the past ofStar Wars. It answered some long-pondered questions fromStar Wars: The Clone WarsandStar Wars Rebels, from what happened to Ezra Bridger after the finale ofRebelstowhere Ahsoka was during the original trilogy. On a deeper level, though, the first season of the show was largely about Ahsoka learning to overcome the tragedy of her past, especially her relationship with Anakin and Darth Vader, and growing beyond it all. Dawson’s comments, though, seem to suggestAhsokaseason 2 is done reminiscing about the past, and will instead focus on the future.

Ahsoka Tano

The apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano was an accomplished Padawan who served during the Clone Wars. Ahsoka left the Jedi after she became disillusioned with the Jedi Council, but returned to serve in the Siege of Mandalore at the end of the Clone Wars. She survived Order 66, becoming a Rebel agent during the Dark Times of the Empire’s reign, and her adventures continue in the New Republic era. Ahsoka was last seen stranded in a distant galaxy, having failed to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return.

There have already been some greattheories aboutAhsokaseason 2, especially after the precarious situation the ending ofAhsokaseason 1 put its main characters in.With Ahsoka, Sabine, Shin Hati, and Baylan Skoll all stuck on Peridea, and with Grand Admiral Thrawn making his grand return to theStar Warsgalaxy, there are quite a few waysAhsokaseason 2 could massively affect the future of the franchise. There’s also the matter of Ahsoka’s fate on a personal level. She still has to train Sabine, who finally unlocked her Force potential, and she has to find a way back to the main galaxy.

It’s also possible thatAhsokaseason 2 won’t resolve its storylines at all, but instead set up massive confrontations for otherStar Warsstories. Thrawn may become the villain ofThe Mandalorian & Grogu, which has been touted as the culmination of the New Republic era ofStar Warsshows. Baylan’s mission in Peridea could also be far more disastrous than it currently seems, and he could be trying to attack the Force itself. It seemsAhsokaseason 2 will force Ahsoka to choose between two impossible fights, and she’ll need every bit of growth she’s experienced so far to survive.
