One Redditor,Br8292, took to the r/PokemonScarletViolet Subreddit to share screenshots of each shiny starter Pokémon standing side-by-side, with each picture representing a different generation.
Br8292 stated in a comment below thatthey used the Masuda method to get some of these shinies. The “Masuda method” is a fan-made term for a tactic used by Game Freak co-founder Junichi Masuda, which he described back in 2007. This method involves breeding Pokémon with different languages of origin to increase the chance of a shiny.

In that same comment, Br8292 explained that they caught most of the Pokémon types inPokémon Scarletand the Hisuian variants inPokémon Legends: Arceus. They also stated thatit took approximately three months to get every shiny starter, with Meowscarada being the hardest, Cyndaquil being the easiest to find, and shiny Sprigatitos being surprisingly common through the Masuda method, particularly with male ones.
For the Sprigatitos in particular, where Br8292 wanted the female variant, they had to breed 4439 eggs before they got one, against only 266 for the first male.
More specifically, the Paldean starters of Generation 9 are done via the Masuda method, the Hisuian starters of Generation 4 were caught inPokémon Legends: Arceus, and the rest of the shiny starters were caught in the Terarium, an underwater facility of Blueberry Academy which has avariety of artificial biomesconsisting of climates such as Savanna, Costal, Canyon, and Polar. Using these specific biomes, it’s also easier to find different kinds of wild Pokémon and even foreign regional forms, which makes the Masuda method even easier to achieve.
With so many generations, it’s easy to find the task of getting every Pokémon quite daunting, especially when then factoring in getting the rarer, shinier variants. Therefore, the fact that Br8292 was able to get every Pokémon starter and their shinies - and seemingly evolve them all as well for the screenshots shared - in only 3 months by using a variety of tactics is quite an impressive feat.
