New Deadpool 3 trailer slammed for “censoring” funniest line

The first trailer for Deadpool 3 – titled Deadpool & Wolverine – promises the same crude, potty-mouthed hero we know and love… but his funniest line so far has already been “censored.”

Deadpool’sR-rated nature is his appeal; he’s funny, but would we still be interested without the free-wheeling meta gags, lewd jokes, and cursing?

Ryan Reynolds as Wade in the Deadpool 3 trailer

Inthe first teaser for the long-awaited threequel, we’re reintroduced to Ryan Reynolds’ scrotum-faced anti-hero (now sporting a toupée), surrounded by his closest friends (including Vanessa and Deadpool 2’s fan-favorite X-Force member, Peter).

A knock at the door leads to him being apprehended by the TVA, presumably for his timey-wimey mischief with Cable’s wrist device. Before he goes, he delivers a brilliant quip – but it’s already been removed in a new version of the trailer.

Deadpool 3 international trailer “censors” pegging line

In the original Deadpool 3 trailer, Wade tells TVA agents armed with time sticks: “Pegging isn’t new for me, friendo, but it is for Disney.” In an international green-band trailer, “pegging” is replaced with “an R-rating.”

Reacting to the change, one userwrote: “This version of the line doesn’t make any sense in context, lol.”

“Removed what was unironically the best part of the trailer,” anothertweeted. “I can’t believe they got Deadpool to agree to redub this line,” a thirdjoked. “This literally makes no sense, snowflakes,” anotherwrote. “The pegging line works so much better than the R-rating one. Especially as Disney literally just released Echo, which is a mature Marvel show,” a fifthposted.

If you’re disappointed with its removal, don’t worry: this is just a re-dub for the green-band (appropriate for younger audiences) version of the trailer, hence why it also doesn’t include any swearing, and the movie will likely still have the line.
