Castle Ensis is a minor dungeon inElden Ring:Shadow of the Erdtree. Accessible early in the narrative, it is presented as the second dungeon to enter, though it can technically be accessed first. Where To Find Castle Ensis In Elden Ring
‘Castle Front’ Site of Grace
Castle Ensis is locatedeast of Belurat, Tower Settlement, and is accessible after findingNeedle Knight Leda’s note, directing you East. While it is unlike Belurat, which contains many twisting paths, Castle Ensis still has some branches that are easy to miss. This dungeon is the next step in Leda’s quest and serves as the gateway to Scadu Altus, the next region inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
Cross Ellac Greatbridge
To reach Castle Ensis,start from the Three-Path Cross Site of Graceand head northeast to reach Ellac Greatbridge. Beware of the ballista and numerous soldiers and perfumers on the other side. Dodge to the sides to avoid being knocked off Torrent.
Once across, head east to find the soldiers' camp with notable loot, including a chest with theFirespark Perfume Bottle. On the west side, there’s a small clearing with a Black Knight and more soldiers, and inside a tent, you’ll find one ofElden Ring’s Cookbooks, the Fire Knight’s Cookbook [2].
Return to the main road from the camp andcontinue north to the castle gate. Collect the Scadutree Fragment by the statue on the right and activate the ‘Castle Front’ Site of Grace beside the road.
Defeat The Troll Knight
After resting, head up the stairs and cross a smaller bridge where you’ll encounter a large andformidable Troll Knight with Sorcery abilities. Though challenging, they do not respawn, so use your full strength and return to the Castle Front Site of Grace to rest if needed.
After slaying the Troll Knight,enter the small room on the rightto face a Lazuli Sorcerer, akin to those at Raya Lucaria Academy. Collect aShadow Realm Rune [4]worth 15,000Runes inElden Ringand aSpelldrake Talisman +3from the room.
How To Enter Ensis Castle In Elden Ring
Reach ‘Castle Ensis Checkpoint’ Site of Grace
Having defeated the enemies in the castle’s front courtyard, the next step is to find an alternate entrance into Castle Ensis since the main gate is locked. Go left from where you battled the knight and head up the stairs.Follow the path to a cliff overlooking a waterfall. Look left to find a staircase leading to the castle walls, guarded by a Messmer Soldier and a dog.
Be cautious of the soldier’s powered-up stomp attack; the best way to avoid it is to jump over it rather than roll.
Once you defeat the enemies and ascend the stairs, head to the tower in the back corner andclimb up the ladder to find a chestwith the Light Greatsword, Milady. Return to the main road and continue north, defeating another soldier and guard dog along the way.
Proceed through the small cave into a large courtyard to spot aBlack Knight with a Greatshield. Wait for him to approach you before initiating a fight to avoid attracting the attention of the other nearby enemies, giving you better combat handling.
Once the Black Knight has been dealt with,enter the stone building on the leftto find a chest with the Loyal Knight’s Cookbook. Upon exiting, defeat the two enemies by the campfire in the courtyard corner and drop from the ledge to retrieve an item from a corpse.
Turn in the direction the knight was guarding and follow the path to find a Miquella Cross, aSomber Smithing Stone [1], aScadutree Fragment inElden Ring, and finally, the Castle Ensis Checkpoint Site of Grace. Beside the grace,pick up a message from Leda detailing the path to reach Miquella, which you should save for later.
Open The Checkpoint
With the checkpoint gate locked, players must find a way to open it to explore the remainder of the castle. Starting from the Castle Ensis Checkpoint Site of Grace,head immediately to the rightwhere a soldier is sitting on a ledge.
Follow the ledge until you fall into a small cave, where a pack of vicious dogs will ambush you. Defeat them and loot the corpse to obtain x2 Royal Magic Grease. Upon exiting the cave, you will find yourself on a narrow cliff edge next to a waterfall, around the moat of Castle Ensis.
To get someimportant items inElden Ring, follow the path to the right, wrapping around the cliff, and jump over the gap to reach a rooftop. Climb onto the roof to loot the Starlight Shard. Return to the waterfall and climb over the rocks under the flowing water to reach a cave hidden behind the waterfall. Grab the Drawstring Royal Magic Grease by the cave entrance and find x4Knot Resininside the cave.
Once you have pillaged the cave,exit and take the ladder to the left, leading up to an armory where two soldiers await. Defeat them and exit through the door in the back corner to find yourself on the other side of the previously locked gate.
Enter the building directly across from the armory to find the lever to open the gate.Interacting with the lever will unlock the checkpoint, allowing you to continue your journey into Castle Ensis. Rest at the Site of Grace on the other side if needed.
Head To Carian Chapel
Proceedacross the bridge through the checkpoint, being cautious of various enemies. Approach as amelee fighter inElden Ringto get close, as they will otherwise use deadly crossbows if you stray too far.
After defeating them, continue upward, but beware of a guard dog hidden in the bushes.
Head west to a small courtyard containing a Carian Chapel. Here, anenemy on the cliff will shoot Sorceries at you, while two others on your level can disappear after attacking. Defeat the ones on your level first, then find a way up the cliff to defeat the final enemy. There is also a Page on the small building in this area.
Defeat Moonrithyll, Carian Knight
Just in front of the chapel, an NPCinvader inElden Ringnamed Moonrithyll will spawn. Though proving to be a difficult adversary with various Sorceries, the Carian Knight ishighly susceptible to blood lossand has low poise. Using heavy weapons or high blood loss attacks will defeat him quickly.
Upon his defeat, he will dropMoonrithyll’s Knight Sword, a Colossal Sword.
After the battle, descend the slightly obscured stairs in the corner.Follow the stairs to a small room with a chestcontaining the Wolf Crest Shield. Return to the main part of the Carian Chapel, speak to the spirit by the altar, and pick up Rellana’s CameoTalisman inElden Ring. Proceed through the chapel, defeating an enemy in a side room and another on the stairs leading out.
Upon exiting the chapel, you will encounter an enemy using ranged sorceries on a rooftop that you can bypass or defeat with ranged abilities.Open the large gates to the leftand proceed down the broken section of the wall.
Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree - Belurat, Tower Settlement Walkthrough (Enemies, NPCs, & Rewards)
Belurat, Tower Settlement is a dungeon in the Elden DLC, presented with many twists and turns, culminating in a boss fight against the Dancing Lion.
Explore The Castle Ramparts & Rooftops
From here,ascend the stairs to the roofwhere the ranged sorcery enemy was located, defeating them and the Page carrying a crossbow. Continue along the rooftops and drop down to another area to pick up theGlintblade Trio Sorceryfrom a corpse.
Return to the gates to face a large group of soldiers and hounds. Defeat them from a distance to avoid getting swarmed, and watch out for enemies on the higher ramparts. Once defeated,move towards the tower at the end of the ramparts. Around the corner, a relentless spear-wielding enemy awaits.
Lure this particular enemy to the ramparts to better manage the fight, giving you ample space.
Reach ‘Castle-Lord’s Chambers’ Site of Grace
After this handling, this opponent ascends the stairs to face aBlack Knight inElden Ring, blocking the path forward. Before battling,turn around and enter the door behind youto find an Imbued Sword Key in a chest. Defeat the Black Knight, take the lift up, and reach the ‘Castle-Lord’s Chambers’ Site of Grace.
To save time for later use, send the lift back down by stepping on the plaque in the center.
Before proceeding to the boss arena, explore the balcony near the Site of Grace to find aSomber Smithing Stone [4].Jump off the balcony onto the cliffs below, carefully descending from cliff to cliff until you reach a larger cliff with a tower.
Enter the tower,climb the stairs and ladder to the top, and find a chest with anAsh of War from theElden RingDLC: Wing Stance. This can be used on Light Greatswords like Milady for rapid attacks. Return to the second level, cross the bridge, and navigate back to the Castle-Lord’s Chambers.
You’ll end up beside the Black Knight you fought earlier, sotake the lift you sent downto avoid fighting again. Once you’ve returned and rested at the Castle-Lord’s Chambers Site of Grace, you can now challenge the final boss of Castle Ensis, Rellana, Twin Moon Knight.

Defeat The Boss For Rewards
Before entering Rellana’s arena, you’re able to summon Needle Knight Leda for assistance if this battle is too challenging. You can also use yourSpirit Ashes inElden Ringto get even more help while she assists you.
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, is a formidable opponentwho uses quick, far-reaching twin sword combos and magic spells. Her combos have a wide range, making it difficult to escape once they start. Focus on memorizing and reacting to her patterns rather than trying to roll away quickly.
In her second phase, she adds fire and ice effects to her moves.Wilstorm Gaming’s video suggests that after four guard counters, you can break her stance and perform a critical hit.
Defeating Rellana rewards you with theRemembrance of the Twin Moon Knightand 240,000 Runes. Activate the new Site of Grace, ‘Ensis Moongazing Grounds,’ that will appear upon her death, then exit the back of the arena to reach the new area in the north, Scadu Altus. In the distance, you’ll see the second Legacy Dungeon ofElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Shadow Keep.
