Bruce Willis hailed by fans as all-star 2010s action movie climbs Netflix chart
A brilliant action movie from 2010 is climbing the Netflix charts, and fans are hailing the central performance by lead Bruce Willis.
Bruce Willis reinvented the action movie as John McClane inDie Hard, proving that heroes don’t need to be bodybuilders, and can have a sense of humor. Which is why it landed a spot on our list of thebest action moviesof all-time.
He quickly became a mainstay of the genre, thanks to movies like The Last Boy Scout, The Fifth Element, Armageddon, and multiple Die Hard sequels.
He also appeared in The Expendables 2, but another team-up movie has turned into a Netflix hit, and fans are loving it.
Why Red is one of Bruce Willis’s best action movies
Red is a geriatric Expendables, in which a bunch of older badasses unite for a dangerous mission.
Based on a DC Comic by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, the film version stars Willis as a former black ops agent who gets his old team back together to take down the assassin who wants him dead.
That team is played by the likes of Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and even Hollywood legend Ernest Borgnine, who was in his 90s when he shot the movie.
I loved Willis in the movie at the time,writingin my review: “What makes Red work is the quality of the cast and the standard of the gags. Willis is typically cool in the lead, believable as a cold-blooded killer while at the same time smart and self-effacing. It’s the kind of role the Die Hard star can perform in his sleep, but that doesn’t make his work in the movie any less enjoyable.”

Fans are also celebrating his performance on social media, as they help push Red up the streaming charts.
One postreads: “You know what movie is really good? Red with Bruce Willis.”
Anothersays: “I think Red is my favorite Bruce Willis movie. So entertaining.”
While a third nails it when theystate: “Bruce Willis was so gangsta in RED. Mfr casually hopped out a stolen police cruiser while it was still moving to shoot at Karl Urban.”
Directed by Robert Schwentke, Red was a box office hit, grossing nearly $200 million form an estimated budget of $60 million. It was followed by an equally star-studded sequel in 2013.
