15This Clone-Centric Episode Helped Introduce Fan-Favorite Clones
Season 1, Episode 5 “Rookies”
“Rookies” introduced audiences to fan-favorite clones of theDomino Squad, like Echo and Fives. In the episode, Separatist droids infiltrate a base on the Rishi moon, which is being defended by a small squad of clones. When Captain Rex and Commander Cody come to inspect the base, they link up with the surviving clones to send a message out to the rest of the Republic Fleet.“Rookies” has everything an audience member would want from an episode ofThe Clone Wars-great storylines, action, and meaningful character interactions. Additionally, it features the heroic yet tragic sacrifice by Hevy.
All five members of the Domino Squad were featured in “Rookies,” but Hevy, Cutup, and Droidbait were all killed.

14Ahsoka Tano Meets A Separatist For The First Time
Season 3, Episode 10 “Heroes on Both Sides”
“Heroes on Both Sides” sees Padmé Amidala and Ahsoka Tano travel to the Separatist world of Raxus, where they meet Senator Mina Bonteri and her son Lux. Padmé hopes to work with Mina to start peace negotiations secretly. During this time, Ahsoka becomes acquainted with Lux, where she realizes the Jedi aren’t just fighting against droids and Count Dooku, but against real people who also want peace and freedom. After Mina successfully brings a resolution, Count Dooku secretly has her executed.This episode highlights the toll war takes on all sides, and how some only look out for themselves.
13Anakin, Obi-Wan, & Ahsoka’s Trip To Mortis Takes A Dark Turn
Season 3, Episode 16 “Altar of Mortis”
Of the entire three-episode arc featuringthe Mortis gods, the second installment is by far the most entertaining. This episode sees Ahsoka getting infected by the Son, turning to the dark side, and dueling Anakin. Their fight is amazing and is a teaser for how the two would face off in titles likeStar Wars Rebels. When the Son kills Ahsoka without a second thought, it’s a truly terrifying and heartbreaking moment.The Daughter’s ultimate sacrifice and final act to revive Ahsoka has also gone on to be a major plot pointfor the character.
Ahsoka Tano
The apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano was an accomplished Padawan who served during the Clone Wars. Ahsoka left the Jedi after she became disillusioned with the Jedi Council, but returned to serve in the Siege of Mandalore at the end of the Clone Wars. She survived Order 66, becoming a Rebel agent during the Dark Times of the Empire’s reign, and her adventures continue in the New Republic era. Ahsoka was last seen stranded in a distant galaxy, having failed to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return.
12The 501st Takes On Pong Krell
Season 4, Episode 10 “Carnage of Krell”
The Clone Warsseason 4 Umbara arc is one of the most tragic in the entire show. The 501st Legion has many unnecessary casualties under the command of General Pong Krell, and tensions rise after he orders the execution of ARC troopers Fives and Jesse. While the clones aren’t executed,Krell does purposefully send his men into a battle of friendly fire, where the clones unknowingly kill each other.The clones are luckily able to capture Krell, and he is later executed by Dogma. While the episode is tragic, it is beyond entertaining, and worthy of additional viewing.
Captain Rex
A key figure among the clones, Captain Rex served under Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano during the Clone Wars. He defected after the establishment of the Empire, becoming an important leader in the early rebellion. A disillusioned Rex ultimately retired, but was brought back into play courtesy of Ahsoka’s abiding influence.
11Count Dooku Orders The Decimation Of The Nightsisters
Season 4, Episode 19 “Massacre”
After being rejected by Count Dooku and returning to her home world of Dathomir,Asajj Ventressbecomes reborn as aNightsister. Soon after, in a form of retaliation, Count Dooku orders General Grievous to destroy all of the Nightsisters. The episode features everything cool about the Nightsisters: magick, zombie warriors, and intense battles. Few Nightsisters survived the devastation, though Ventress, Mother Talzin, Merrin, andLady Morgan Elsbethare known to have survived, and there were likely others. With the Nightsisters' renewed importance afterAhsokaseason 1, “Massacre” is worth the rewatch.
Asajj Ventress
Hailing from the Nightsisters of Dathomir, Asajj Ventress became Count Dooku’s apprentice during the Clone Wars. Betrayed by her master, she sought revenge - even forming a surprising alliance with Jedi Master Quinlan Vos at one point. Asajj has reinvented herself as a bounty hunter, and survived into the Dark Times of the Empire’s reign.
10Darth Maul Is Back For Obi-Wan
Season 4, Episode 22 “Revenge”
The Clone Warsseason 4 finale shows Darth Maul getting his legs back in working order after Savage Opress rescued him. Maul immediately sets his sights on getting revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi for cutting him in half and quickly has the Jedi walking into a trap.Darth Maul is at his best inThe Clone Warswhen he is seeking revenge, and it is best demonstrated in this episode, as he has no ulterior motive. The final lightsaber duel where Savage and Maul face off against Obi-Wan and Ventress is by far one of the most memorable in the entire show.
Darth Maul
Palpatine’s apprentice, Darth Maul was nothing more than a tool to winnow down the ranks of the Jedi ahead of Darth Sidious' true plans. Discarded after he was defeated by Obi-Wan Kenobi on Naboo, Darth Maul swore revenge against all those he blamed for his past struggles - Jedi and Sith alike. Maul tended to operate within the shadows, running various syndicates, and even established himself as a true rival for Palpatine on at least one occasion. He was eventually killed by Obi-Wan in a duel on Tatooine.

9Maul Brings Mandalore To Its Knees
Season 5, Episode 16 “The Lawless”
“The Lawless” is widely regarded as one of the best episodes ofThe Clone Warsfor a variety of reasons. Not only does it see Maul’s takeover of Mandalore, but he also lures Obi-Wan to the planet. While Obi-Wan rescues Satine Kryze, he fails to get her off the planet - leading to Maul murdering Satine to hurt Obi-Wan. The episode also sees Maul and Savage Opress face off against Palpatine in an epic lightsaber battle that ends with Savage’s death and Maul’s defeat. To top it all off, it’s at last revealed that Satine and Bo-Katan are sisters.
8Ahsoka Tano Leaves The Jedi Order
Season 5, Episode 20 “The Wrong Jedi”
The final arc ofThe Clone Warsseason 5 sees Ahsoka Tano being framed for bombingthe Jedi Temple. Though audiences know she is innocent, the Jedi quickly assume her fault and put her on trial. “The Wrong Jedi” shows how Anakin Skywalker unveils the truth thatBarriss Offeewas the real bomber. An amazing duel takes place between the two and leads to Anakin bringing her to justice just at the right time to save Ahsoka. DespiteAhsoka being acquitted of her crimes, she becomes disillusioned by the Jediand makes the hard choice to leave the Jedi Order.
7Fives Learns The Truth
Season 6, Episode 4 “Orders”
ARC trooper Fives’ storyline inThe Clone Warsseason 6 is one of the most tragic in the entire show. After Fives learns aboutthe inhibitor chipsinside all the clones, he removes his. However, in “Orders,”he learns that the chips were part of a plot to destroy the Jedi.Despite trying to warn Anakin Skywalker and Captain Rex, he’s being hunted by other clones for attempting to kill Palpatine. Fives is killed knowing that the Jedi and his brothers are doomed, but can’t stop it.

6Echo Is Found Alive & Rescued
Season 7, Episode 3 “On the Wings of Keeradaks”
“On the Wings of Keeradaks” is an amazing episode because it cements the relationship between Rex and the rest ofClone Force 99, aka the Bad Batch. On a stealth mission to rescue Echo from the Techno Union, the clones and Anakin Skywalker work together. The episode is thrilling and has a sad undertone when realizing what Echo has truly gone through while being held and experimented on. His ability to instantly reconnect with Rex and make plans for their escape is touching.
Echo (CT-1409)
A loyal clone soldier, Echo was captured by the Separatists and transformed into a tool that they used against the Republic. Rescued by Clone Force 99, Echo chose to join the team, and - like most of that mutant squad - he was not affected by Order 66. Echo left the Bad Batch to work alongside early rebel cells.
