Chris Combs Went For Sporty Style

He’s Got A Long Way To Go

In May, Chris' bariatric surgeon,Dr. Eric Smith, posted a clip on Instagram about how obesity affects mental health. In the footage, Chris opted for a more casual style and wore a sporty gray tee shirt. He probably chose the casual shirt so as not to take away from the message of the clip. In it,Chris talks about his lifelong struggle with his weight and describes how obesity is detrimental to mental well-being. He also explains how important it is for him to share his story and inspire others to go on their own weight loss journeys.

Losing a significant amount of weight in such a short period of timehas left Chris with excess loose skinthat he wants to have removed. Though he doesn’t like the way the skin looks, the problem goes beyond aesthetic concerns. That muchextra skin is extremely heavy and presents unique health and hygiene challenges. Though the multiple procedures are expensive and come with a wide array of potential side effects, Chris is eager for the surgery. He was denied by his doctor, who wanted Chris to shed more weight before the doctor would approve the surgery.

Chris isn’t the only Slaton dealing with excess loose skin after significant weight loss.Amy lost 125 poundsand had two children since her bariatric surgery, and has expressed a desire to have the loose skin removed. The Slaton with the most extra skin to worry about is Tammy, who lost 440 pounds since she made her television debut. The other pair of Slaton sisters, Misty Slaton Wentworth and Amanda Halterman, also had bariatric surgery. The sisters arebest friends who do everything together, and that includes major surgery. They had back-to-back bariatric surgery on the same day, in March 2023. Their surgeon was Dr. Smith, who also operated on Chris and Tammy.
